The article that was made on the subject of a presumed invention called the Memex, was very interesting to me. The very idea of inventing something that could render imformation so easily, and in such a small compact form (so as to take up less space), seems light years away from today’s inventions. I’m very interested in how one could map out this invention, and hope to put this dream into a tangible reality. This new technology would change the way everyone would work in today’s world, and I think it would greatly benefit those that choose to use it in a positive context. As always, the further society goes into benefiting society, the further they go into destroying it. Like many things, there are always people that would like to use new inventions that are used to help others, for the purpose to hurt people instead. Overall, this article was enlightening and also just another example of how when technology advances problems arise as well as solutions.

Learning about erasure was quite enlightening. I would have chosen a fast food chain to create my assignment but i think i’ll do another form of mass production. I chose cigaretttttteeessssss…

Photoshop Tennis Anyone?

In class we learned about an enlightining game called Photoshop tennis. I paired up with the lovely G, and together we created quite a picture. It all started with the magical background of a night scape in London. G put in a t-rex, and then I placed a small cowboy on its back. G sent it back with some awesome fireworks, and then i put in a giant cricket in the bottom right hand corner. G sent back the picture once again with the picture of a screaming woman, and finally i ended the cycle with the scene of running zombies.

I had quite the experience through this game. Not only did I practice my photoshop skills, but i also gained a new friend!

Hello Chicago

I don’t know what snow boots are and yet I still feel complete. My name is Christina and I think I have successfully hooked you into my blog.

I’m originally from southern California in a small town called Torrance. My high school, Torrance High, is famously known as Sunnydale High. If you were/are a cult fan of the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer then you will know exactly what my high school looks like. My migration from sunny California to Chicago has been an exciting one that has had its ups and downs. The ups are that everyone that i’ve met so far has been welcoming, creative, and most of all very much like me. The downs are that everyone and their mom smokes here, and there are no open spaces like the endless beaches of my hometown.

Anyway, enough of my reminiscing. For the future my aspirations are that one day I will make a name for myself in the art community by writing a world renowned book filled with my very own illustrations. Through my classes I’m hoping to expand my knowledge and broaden my expectations for what will come in the future. I’m dearly hoping to understand my Mac book and know the in’s and out’s of the many applications on it. Not only this but I’m really hoping to meet new people and make many connections with other artists so that I can understand different aspects of art.
